Mindfulness

Hello Blogger, over the past few weeks we have done mindfulnes. We have had 4 sessions of mindfulness where we did some yoga poses and learnt about difrent ways of breathing and listening to yourself. The first breath we learnt was the candle breath you breathed in through your nose and breathed out slowly through you mouth like blowing on a candle, the next thing we did was a game where evreybody got in a circle and held hands and tried to pass a hula hope around the circle without leting go of anyones hands. After that we listened to the sounds outside the room then inside the room the inside us. Last we did breathing. We also did a weird thing where we had to put our feet up against each other and balnce there.

Skateboarding

Skateboard

Hello blogger, we did skateboardinbg last week instead of normal work. We had 2 sessions which in total is 1 hour and 25 mins of skateboarding, we first had to pick a helmet and skateboard. When we picked we did about 2 mins of learrrning how to ride then 2 min of riding, after that they separated us into 2 different groups. At the start we just learnt how to ride better like where to place our feet and things like that. After that we learned tic tac and stuff like that. Later we learnt how to carve and how to stop correctly. Finally we did Whats up Wolf where you have to skate after someone but you can't go in front and if you move when they turn you go back, when they call dinner you have to skate to the end first to be the next wolf. Then it was the end of the first lesson.

Next lesson

We went back to our old groups and did balance practice. When we were done we went over what we did already, after that we learnt some tricks you had the board upside down on you feet and we jumped and landed on the board right side up. After that we did the same but with the back of you feet and lastly the same as first one but we turned 180 degrees. After that we played Whats up Wolf agin and had free time. Photos down below

Waikowhai Primary School Production

The Production

Hello Blogger, last week we finally performed our school production. The name of our school Production is Jasmine and Aladdin like the movie but with our own Waikowhai twist. We have been practising lines and moves since before the 2nd lockdown, so we have had this in the making for a very long time.

To choose who got what role, they sent home a notice to see when people could come after school, then the teachers held a poetry contest we had to remember a poem then recite it with enthusiasm and actions. Affter we finished we would say what type of role we wanted to have, the roles were: main role, minor role, backstage, non-speaking, y5-6 dance and lighting and sound.

I ended up being in the year 5-6 dance. We did our proformances on Wednesday morning and evning, Thursday evening and Friday midday. I was sad that I got dance because I didn't get any lines but I couldn't go to rehersals (because of ballet and karate) so I was fine with it. I was not able to go to 3 of the 4 performances, so it was good I was just in the dance and was not a big role.

I think that the Production was really fun and was a success and I am sad that I didn't get to do all of the shows. Photos down bellow!

Wonder Project

Wonder Project

Hello blogger, this Wednesday my class launched their rockets for the Wonder Project. Last Wednesday we did our test flight to see how our rockets did and how we could improve them. At that test flight we found that using 3 big fins was the best and around 300mls of water. After that test launch we had 1 hour to improve the rocket. To improve our rocket we made the fins bigger and put on a new nose cone.

For the final flight we put on our safety gear (hi-vis vest and safety glasses) and measured the amount of water. We had 275mls of water in the bottle then pumped in air until it was 60psi. We counted down from 10...then launched our rocket. Our rocket went 26.5m but it wasn't the farthest distance of all the rockets, which was 35.6m. Thank you for reading this blog video down below.

Basketball

Hello blogger, two days ago on Wednesday week 8 we did our first of three basketball sessions. We were meant to have more sessions but the auckland lockdown stopped that from happening. The coaches names were Ronan & Mikey, at the start we just did some dribbling. After about 5 min of dribbling the coaches made us bounce the ball between your hands then tried to make us be able to bounce it going trough our legs. After that they made us partner up and pass balls to each other and catch them with one hand. After the we did in and outs which is passing the ball across you body with on hand, after that we had to try and pass the ball behind us. After that there was an exercise where we would be dribbling then they would call a number and we would have to do one of those depending on the number. After that at the end there was a game where on person is in the middle then for ten seconds have to keep the ball away from someone, If they kept the ball they stay in if not the other person gosse in. I liked basketball and I'm sad that we only get 3 sessions.

Tivaevae

Hello blogger, because this week was Cook Island Language Week we made Tivaevae for math yesterday and today. What we did is make Tivaevae patterns by cuting them in folded papper and then unfolding it and puting it on a coloured back round. I think they were going to put them together once all of them were done but I don't know because they aren't all done. I was one of the few people who completed them because only a couple of people did them today for the others were in rehearsal for production. Tivaevae patterns below.
